Market Recall Simulation as a Service for the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industry

Abstract

Introduction: Regularly reviewing the recall plan through a rigorously projected simulation allows companies to update and improve their practices on a continuous basis. This exercise provides multiple benefits and allows to be prepared in case of having to face a real crisis situation.

Objective: To describe the background of the development of recall drills in the Cuban distribution chain in which the medicine marketing and distribution company has participated and the actions carried out to turn this activity into a scientific-technical service of the company.

Method: A retrospective, observational study was carried out in a sample formed by the recall drills developed in the company between the years 2010-2022. The specifications of the different recall scenarios were established when designing the recall simulation service.

Results: The design of the mock recall service considered the specifications that determined its complexity and the cost of the project. The methodology for its implementation was documented in a standard operating procedure.

Conclusions: The introduction of the new mock recall service gives the company total exclusivity in the Cuban distribution chain and is doubly advantageous as it is an excellent business opportunity and a tailor-made solution for manufacturers who market biotechnological and/or pharmaceutical products in the country and need to respond to regulatory requirements.
